Proposal Writing Bootcamp

jr-VIRS Stock images_0026a

The VIRS Proposal Writing Bootcamp is a series of three workshops focused on increasing understanding of effective proposal writing so faculty can craft winning grant proposals. Each interactive workshop in this series builds on the previous. A small cohort will work collaboratively to gain insights on ways to make individual grant proposals competitive. Participants will apply the workshop objectives to the crafting of their individual proposals.

Goals

The series aims to help faculty 1) identify components of their projects that will appeal to funders' goals, and 2) understand how to pitch these components to reviewers within the genre conventions of a grant proposal.

Outcomes

Faculty will leave the seminar with a peer-reviewed project map and project summary page, setting them up to communicate their project (to project directors and others supporting their proposal) and to draft their complete proposal.

Eligibility

Prior to the first workshop, faculty should 1) have chosen their solicitation, 2) have a timeline for submission, and 3) be familiar with the details of their solicitation.

Schedule

Participants will meet three times during the spring semester. The series will be scheduled around participant availability once enrolled.

Commitment

Please commit to all three workshops and be prepared to work on short assignments to organize your proposal, draft your first page, and share your work with the cohort. Participation will be limited to 4 participants.
