The Center for Business Analytics is proud to host professional and academic events throughout the year to showcase the many trends, case studies, research and projects across industries, highlighting Analytics. We encourage alumni, faculty, students and ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ community members to join us on campus and share these opportunities with colleagues and interested guests.

Signature Programming

Analytics Research Briefings: ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ faculty and colleagues present their latest research findings.

Business Analytics Round Table: CBA faculty and professionals gather to network and share case studies and examples of best practices in how they implement analytics in their businesses and endeavors.

Business Practitioner Lectures: The CBA hosts guest speakers to present specific examples of how they have successfully applied analytics to solve business challenges. We have recently welcomed Susan Ramonat, Founder and CEO of Spiritus Partners to present about the impact of block chain technologies.

Thought Leader Lecture Series: Twice per year the CBA invites forward thinking experts to discuss how they have used analytics to address the challenges around them. These lectures have included notable thought leaders such as Alicia Rankin, head of research for the NFL, Tom Davenport, author of Competing on Analytics and Analytics at Work, and William McDermott, co-CEO of SAP.

Center Highlights

Both members of the Blockchain Society Bettenhausen and Dang have formed Aerotrax Technologies. Aerotrax is leveraging blockchain technology to streamline operational inefficiencies in the aviation industry.

From February 21-22, the Center for Business Analytics sponsored a team of VSB students to compete in the Champion® Analytics Case Competition at Elon University (CACC). The case competition was hosted by The Elon Center for Organizational Analytics with HanesBrands. The case competition allows students the opportunity to build and demonstrate their data analytics and visualization skills to professionals in the data analytics community.

In recent years, the cost of prescription medication has been volatile. Changes in the insurance market, new regulations on wholesalers and the entrance of companies like FedEx and UPS into the retail-delivery market have all affected the profits of drug companies.
