BACKPACK TO BRIEFCASE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CURRICULUM

Professional Development is a critical component of business education. VSB’s Backpack to Briefcase (B2B) initiative engages students in professional development activities from first through senior year. B2B is an innovative program, integrating career development into the core business curriculum throughout the four-year academic program, supplementing students’ participation in traditional academic courses and providing holistic preparation for success as professionals.

CORE CURRICULUM

VSB students begin taking business courses in their freshman year and continue to fulfill VSB core requirements during sophomore year.

GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES

VSB provides you with opportunities to gain the international business experience necessary to become outstanding leaders and global citizens and to be competitive in today's workplace.

READ TO LEAD

This year's Read to Lead book is Turnaround Time by Oscar Munoz. The VSB Read to Lead Program, sponsored by EY, is an integral part of the undergraduate curriculum and connects students around a highly relevant business theme before freshman year.

The book offers students a real-world context for learning and provides a launching point for integrative discussions, projects, and analyses of topics in the Business Dynamics first-year core business course. It also provides students with new opportunities for discussions with high-level corporate leaders.

Turnaround Time by Oscar Munoz

The Read to Lead Program has included such books as Trailblazer: The Power of Business as the Greatest Platform for Change, No Rules Rules: Netflix and the Culture of Reinvention, Leading Matters: Lessons from My Journey, The Upstarts: How Uber, Airbnb, and the Killer Companies of the New Silicon Valley Are Changing the World by Brad Stone and many others.
