Dr. Bradley Appointed to AACN's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Group
Patricia Bradley, PhD, RN, FAAN, associate professor, in June was appointed to the national Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Group of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). According to AACN's website, the group serves as a "convening body to unite expertise, experience, and guidance for academic nursing in Leading Across Differences . DEIG will collectively explore innovative approaches to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic nursing and the nursing workforce, and support the efforts of AACN member institutions and academic nursing at the local, regional, and national levels to advance diversity and inclusion."
Dr. Bradley, an educator and researcher, is an expert in psychiatric-mental health nursing and health disparities. She co-teaches “Cross Cultural Communication in Health Care” - which includes Intergroup Relations (IGR) exercises - where she explains the students are "practicing careful listening and having meaningful dialogue...What we’re doing is teaching professional nursing values. Our goal is to help students learn advocacy and learn how to implement change,” says Dr. Bradley.
