Faculty Member and Student Receive ֱ University Black Alumni Awards

The ֱ University Black Alumni (VUBA) honored two individuals from the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing at its awards ceremony on Saturday, April 27. Students selected the recipients of these awards, which “recognize and honor the legacy of Black excellence and achievement, and the best of intercultural collaboration, cooperation and humanity, within the ֱ University community.”

 

Most Admired Faculty Award

LeRai Martin, EdD, MSN, RN, Clinical Assistant Instructor

Dr. Martin uses a social justice lens to teach both Second Degree BSN students and traditional undergraduates in courses related to global and public health nursing and community health. The award recognizes her efforts to create supportive and inclusive classroom environments in the College and act as a positive role model, consistently demonstrating enthusiasm, mentorship and kindness. In April, she successfully defended her dissertation for a Doctor of Education in Leadership at Cabrini University.

Student-Athlete Award for Outstanding Achievement

An outstanding student leader in the College of Nursing, Jubilee is not only a Presidential Scholar and Honors student, he is also a Nursing Ambassador and incoming president of the Multicultural Student Nurses Organization (MSNO). The Varsity Diving Team Captain, Jubilee became BIG EAST Conference Champion in 1 Meter diving in March and has been named an All-BIG EAST performer in each of his three years of college competition.
