Dean Havens: Living Health Care Leadership
Donna S. Havens, PhD, RN, FAAN, Connelly Endowed Dean and Professor, continues to be a strong proponent of nursing and health care in many ways. In the tradition of her decades of research on the nursing workforce, nursing practice environments and quality care, and recent position as chair of the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Magnet Recognition, she begins a new role in September following her recent election to the Board of Trustees at Main Line Health. “I am honored to be selected to serve on the Main Line Health Board," she notes. "This is an opportunity for the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing to add to our presence in the community as well as to add Nursing’s voice to enhance the delivery and quality of health care." The health care system is a longtime clinical partner of the College.
Dean Havens has also been selected as a Fellow in the AACN/Wharton Executive Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania for 2021. The program begins in August.
On June 30, her editorial "," for the American Nurses Association's My American Nurse, was published. She writes, "Nurses have limitless opportunities to provide leadership. Let us cohesively and inclusively use this power to not only educate but to also impact policy and practice to build positive work environments and effective and equitable health care systems in our diverse society."
