Rebecca Shenkman joins COPE

'

The MacDonald Center for Obesity Prevention and Education (COPE) welcomed Rebecca Shenkman, MPH, RDN, LDN as a part time program manager this spring. 

Shenkman has had clinical, community and research experience in the nutrition field, ranging from working at the New York City Department of Health, to teaching elementary students about healthy eating. Her most recent role as a Clinical Dietitian at Main Line Health鈥檚 Bryn Mawr Hospital involved helping people with a variety of medical conditions learn how to use food to help prevent, control, and mitigate disease symptoms.  She is a published author on behavioral treatments of obesity which guides her career focus of translating nutritional science into practical advice for patients and clients to improve their quality of life. She believes that all individuals can improve their health by making better food and lifestyle choices. 

Shenkman attended the University of Pennsylvania for her undergraduate education and graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Psychology and earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from New York University. Her  post-college career as a research coordinator at the Center for Weight and Eating Disorders at the University of Pennsylvania- investigating the effects of binge eating disorder on the outcome of bariatric surgery patients- cemented her desired to become a Registered Dietitian and earn a Master's degree.
