Maria Magro, PhD candidate, named 2012 AANA Foundation Doctoral Fellow

ֱ University College of Nursing doctoral candidate Maria Magro, MSN, CRNA in June was notified by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Foundation that she has been named the 2012 AANA Foundation Doctoral Fellow after a highly competitive process. With the prestige of this title also comes a cash award of $10,000.  She was additionally selected for the Kay Wagner Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists Practice & Research Doctoral Fellowship.

Magro, who is working towards her PhD in nursing, will be honored by the AANA Foundation at their Awards and Recognition Dinner on August 6, 2012 in San Francisco. She was selected for her strong commitment to research. Her scholarly interests include “The aftermath of perioperative catastrophes in nurse anesthetists:  the perceived level of cognitive impairment and ways of coping.” The AANA Foundation Doctoral Fellowship is designed to cultivate the development of leaders within the nurse anesthesia specialty, currently engaged in doctoral studies.
