Making a difference for young families

Parent-Child Nursing students
Senior nursing student Mary Shuma talks to new mothers about infant care with classmates Jessica Fuentes, Ellen Ossola, Clare Kohler, Sara Buncke, Isabella Palermo, Ashleigh Goff, and Abigail Morrissey.

Mothers-to-be in the Jeffersonville, PA area recently benefitted from the knowledge of senior students from the ֱ University College of Nursing. On September 18th, the students, along with adjunct clinical professor Joanna McGrath MSN, RN, visited A Baby’s Breath to offer education sessions. Their prenatal teaching topics included post partum depression, normal newborn behaviors, newborn care, and when to call the doctor for your infant. The students were at this community site as part of their Parent-Child Nursing clinical practicum.

A Baby’s Breath is a charitable self-help organization which helps clients develop the skills they need to provide a stable and loving environment for their children through free tutoring in GED training, prenatal classes on fetal development, nutrition, safety and related topics, and parenting issues.
