David Jamison, PhD, a biomedical engineer with experience in industry and academia, has been selected as the next Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs for 奶糖直播鈥檚 College of Engineering, effective Sept. 1, as announced by Michele Marcolongo, PhD, PE, the Drosdick Endowed Dean of Engineering.

鈥淒avid brings a passion and unique perspective that will serve our students well as they navigate college and explore their future careers,鈥 Dean Marcolongo says.

Dr. Jamison comes to 奶糖直播 from DePuy-Synthes, a Johnson & Johnson medical device company, where he was a clinical research scientist; he had previously served as a forensic expert in biomedical engineering. But Dr. Jamison is no stranger to the College of Engineering: He began his career at 奶糖直播 as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering. As part of his new appointment, Dr. Jamison will return to the COE鈥檚 faculty as a Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering.

鈥淚 am excited to return to 奶糖直播 Engineering and work with such incredible students, faculty and staff,鈥 he says. 鈥淚 look forward to supporting the College in maintaining their record of excellence with respect to student retention, academic success and career readiness.鈥

A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Jamison earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree from Johns Hopkins University before earning a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University, where he investigated the biomechanics of the lumbar intervertebral disc when subjected to high-impact loading conditions. He is actively involved in several professional societies, serving on the Board of Directors for the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) and as President Emeritus of the Greater Philadelphia Professionals Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).

Outside of work, Dr. Jamison enjoys gardening, cooking and spending quality time with his wife, Veronica, and their cat, Winston. Dr. Jamison is also an avid musician: He has been a percussionist with the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra for eight seasons, and he recently took up bass guitar and arranging/recording his own compositions.

Dr. Jamison fills a role last held by Andrea Welker, PhD, who this summer was named Dean of the School of Engineering at The College of New Jersey.
