WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS
Equitable Hiring Practicum
VISIBLE’s Equitable Hiring Practicum extends learning from the Hiring for ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s Future workshop and training series. During the Practicum, participants work with facilitators to identify instances of exclusion, develop strategies to promote inclusion and practice applying the processes and procedures from Hiring for ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s Future. The Practicum is for all faculty and staff who have hiring responsibilities or are serving on hiring committees.

Campus Leaders Workshop
VISIBLE's Campus Leaders Workshop is an annual, all-day event that brings together leaders from across the University for vital professional development and networking. The 2023 Workshop focused on building inclusive leadership skills and practices; previous themes have included mindfulness and systems change. Individuals are selected for invitation in collaboration with members of the Department Chairs Peer Network, Deans and the Office of the Provost.
For more information, contact Adam Smith, VISIBLE Associate Program Director.
New Academic Leaders Orientation
The New Academic Leaders Orientation program occurs each summer before the beginning of the semester. All new academic leaders (including department chairs and those in equivalent roles, assistant and associate deans and all who have administrative appointments) are invited. During the Orientation, important offices like the University Registrar, Vice Provost for Research, the ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Institute for Teaching and Learning, Academic Finance and others provide short presentations on their operations and share knowledge important for individuals serving in leadership roles. Participants will meet others in peer roles, establish connections with valuable campus partners and receive a broad welcome to ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s campus.

Equitable Faculty Evaluation
VISIBLE offers opportunities for faculty members to explore human social dynamics that can impact equity and inclusion, particularly as these occur in the faculty evaluation context. In recent years, VISIBLE has offered a fall retreat for faculty who are eligible to evaluate other faculty members for promotion decisions (tenure track, full time, assistant to associate, associate to full) utilizing applied theater techniques with facilitation by expert guests. Look for future events with similar interactive and engaging experiences grounded in evidence and best practices, to help faculty members proceed with their common work in an equitable and inclusive manner consistent with ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s Augustinian values of Veritas, Unitas and Caritas.
