The Center for Dialogue
December 12, 2023
Dear Members of the ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Community,
Today, we celebrated the contributions and career of a beloved ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥n with a Toast for Dr. Terry Nance. A larger celebration is planned for June 2024 to honor Dr. Nance and her numerous contributions to the ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ community, but I did want to share some news for those in our community who could not attend today’s event.
The Center for Dialogue, which was established in 2020 through a $5 million gift from the Lorenzini Family Foundation, plays a critical role in the ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ community. The Center engages community members in the practice of dialogue by teaching skills and creating opportunities for meaningful interaction and community building through the lens of social justice. For more than 40 years, Dr. Nance has been a tireless and leading voice in this work at ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ in all her various roles at ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥â€”teacher, scholar, administrator, ambassador and colleague. That is why it is my great pleasure to share that the Center will be named in her honor and will now be known as the Dr. Terry Nance Center for Dialogue. Dr. Nance has impacted generations of ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ns, and now future generations will be impacted through the work of this Center that carries her legacy forward.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Nance on this honor, thanking her for her untiring service and commitment to ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ University.
Sincerely,
Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA
President
