The Ryan Fellows

The Ryan Fellows are a student-led group dedicated to free and open discussion of contemporary political issues, political philosophy, statesmanship, and the history and principles of American government. This Ryan Center-based group upholds the Center’s non-partisan and intellectually diverse mission to promote inquiry into the principles and processes of free government and to advance understanding of the responsibilities of citizens of constitutional democratic societies.

Special opportunities available to Ryan Fellows include:

• Wednesday "Debate America" Discussions: Weekly student-led discussions encourage open, free debate of controversial political issues and events. We encourage all undergraduates to lend their voices and share their opinions in an open environment.
• Speaker Events Priority Invitations: Speakers in our series deliver public lectures along with more personal interaction at small gatherings.
• Ryan Center Student Conference Priority Registration: Our annual student conference includes a single-day, on-campus discussion of a foundational American political text between students and faculty.
• Special Events Priority Invitations: We sponsor students at events designed to further the Center’s mission.
• Recommendations: Our faculty associates’ relationships with internship and scholarship programs allows us to recommend eager students for opportunities across the country.
• Guest Speakers Program: We offer students a unique opportunity to work with Ryan Center faculty to plan a public lecture and host a guest speaker on campus each year.
• New Friends and Kindred Spirits: Through interactions with Ryan scholars and visiting fellows, students meet with others looking for meaningful discussions on politics and the public good.

The Ryan Society

The Ryan Society of ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ University is composed of Ryan Center Alumni and past undergraduate Ryan Fellows, who continue their dedication to our mission of promoting free institutions, practicing civility and embracing the power of public good in their everyday lives. As students who dedicated their undergraduate studies to politics, citizenship, freedom and the common good, they are an important reminder that this commitment to others doesn’t just stop after college.
