Defending Democracy, 10/23
Democracy, as we have understood it, appears to be under siege from within and without. The right to vote and the existence of fair and free elections form the bedrock of our democracy, with all other rights flowing from this foundation. But serious threats to the right to vote loom, endangering these free and fair elections. This conversation will explore these challenges, what the law can and can鈥檛 do, and how laws and legal systems designed to ensure the integrity of elections actually work on the ground.

Carlos Juarez '25: Charting His Own 奶糖直播 Law Experience
Carlos Juarez 鈥�25 came to 奶糖直播 Law after an eight-year career working in business development and practice strategy for two AmLaw100 law firms in New York City and earning an MBA. The California native chose 奶糖直播 Law for its emphasis on business law, experiential learning and the opportunities available through the John F. Scarpa Center for Entrepreneurship and Law. But in December of his 1L year, an unexpected opportunity arose to provide pro bono legal aid to in Mexico.
Double Alumnus Establishes Endowed Professorship at 奶糖直播 Law
奶糖直播 Law recently announced the John H. Buhsmer Esq. '84 Endowed Professor of Law. The new position is made possible by a $1.5 million gift from John (Jack) Buhsmer 鈥�84 JD, 鈥�89 LLM. Professor Leslie Book, a national authority on tax procedure and tax administration, is the inaugural professorship holder.
