  • 62nd Annual Theodore L. Reimel Moot Court Competition

    The final round of the 62nd Annual Theodore L. Reimel Moot Court Competition will take place on Thursday, November 18 at 5:00 p.m. in the Martin G. McGuinn '67 Ceremonial Courtroom (Room 201), followed by the awards ceremony and reception in the Arthur M. Goldberg ’66 Commons. This event is open to the public and will also be livestreamed for those who want to join virtually.

  • 2021 ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law Esports Negotiation Competition, 11/5-6

    The inaugural ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law Esports Negotiation Competition will be held virtually November 5-6, 2021. The Competition will focus on the Overwatch League (OWL), an international esports league comprised of 20 city-based teams and featuring the best Overwatch® players in the world. In this competition, teams from across the country will face off as they negotiate to sign a player. Participants will develop oral advocacy, negotiation and presentation skills, while also building an understanding of esports and professional sports contracts. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges consisting of world-renowned esports lawyers, agents, and executives.

  • Tenth Annual Promoting Diversity in Law School Leadership, 10/29-30

    Since 2018, ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ University Charles Widger School of Law and Seattle University School of Law have partnered for the “Promoting Diversity in Law School Leadership Workshop.” The workshop is designed to encourage and assist members of underrepresented groups to pursue deanships and other leadership positions.

  • Inaugural Anti-Poverty Symposium, 10/22

    ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ University’s Inaugural Anti-Poverty Symposium “Caritas in Action: Root Causes, Solutions and Restoring Dignity” will bring together thought leaders and advocates to explore the cause and effect of poverty and inequality. This symposium takes place on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Arthur M. Goldberg ’66 Commons at the ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ University Charles Widger School of Law.

    Social media and the Internet have revolutionized our society, but is the future utopian or dystopian? Join the Girard-diCarlo Center and a panel of distinguished experts to explore an array of issues, including democracy within social media platforms, content moderation, and what it all means for how and where we speak to each other.

  • "The Decline of Natural Law: How American Lawyers Once Used Natural Law and Why They Stopped," 9/21

    The Eleanor H. McCullen Center for Law, Religion and Public Policy welcomes Stuart Banner. In this lecture, he will discuss his recent book, "The Decline of Natural Law: How American Lawyers Once Used Natural Law and Why They Stopped." The first book to explain how natural law once worked in the American legal system offers a look into how and why this major shift in legal thought happened, and focuses, in particular, on the shift from the idea that law is something we find to something we make.

  • Future Business Law Professors Conference, 9/10

    The John F. Scarpa Center for Entrepreneurship and Law will host the second Future Business Law Professors Conference on Friday, September 10, 2021. All visiting assistant professors, fellows, researchers, law clerks, practitioners and others who are considering entering the higher education academic teaching market in business law—including business associations, securities regulation, corporate finance and business ethics—are invited to attend.

  • Reshaping Tax Practice: Technology & Preparing for the Future, 6/23

    Technology has changed how taxpayers calculate, report, manage and analyze their taxes - including income, sales, property, value-added and every other type of tax. Recent advances and developments suggest that technology will play an even more important role in the near and distant future of tax. The ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ University Graduate Tax Program has assembled an esteemed panel to examine how technology is reshaping the tax practice and what tax professionals need to know to prepare for the future. Panelists will present views from the perspective of in-house user, technology solutions provider and consultant.

  • 15th Annual John F. Scarpa Conference on Law, Politics and Culture, 4/23

    When Joseph R. Biden was sworn in as President of the United States on January 20, 2021, he became the most prominent Catholic layman in the world. For better or worse, the “Biden effect” on American Catholicism will be substantial. Some Catholics celebrate President Biden’s public embrace of the Catholicism they associate with Pope Francis’s emphasis on mercy.

  • Seventh Annual Moorad Game Day Case Competition, 4/10

    The Annual Game Day Case Competition is the only sports case competition of its kind in the nation, bringing together JD and MBA students to both present and negotiate solutions to cutting edge topics in sports law and business. Teams from across the country will take a multidisciplinary approach to analyzing, presenting and negotiating solutions to real-world legal and business problems.

  • 24th Annual Public Interest Auction, 3/26

    Join the Walter A. Lucas Public Interest Fellowship Program (PIFP) for the 24th Annual Public Interest Auction! This year's event will take place virtually and include live programming featuring ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law faculty and students. All auction proceeds directly fund fellowships awarded to ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law students who dedicate their summers to public service legal work.

  • Church Today: Responding to the Sexual Abuse Crisis in the Catholic Church, 3/20

    Scholars of law, theology and philosophy will come together for a day-long conference to explore issues surrounding the modern Catholic Church today in wake of the sexual abuse crisis. Sponsored by the Eleanor H. McCullen Center for Law, Religion and Public Policy and the ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ University Department of Philosophy, the conference will feature 29 sessions with subject matter experts and religious leaders.

  • 2021 ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Environmental Law Journal Blank Rome LLP Symposium, 2/5-19

    The South Philadelphia refinery has played an important role in the Philadelphia region for nearly 150 years. The refinery site is now in the process of being remediated and redeveloped, a process that involves numerous government entities and private parties addressing financial, legal, and public health issues. The 2021 ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Environmental Law Journal Blank Rome LLP Symposium will focus on environmental law and environmental justice issues relating to the site.
