INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
The Department of Management and Operations not only encourages but also requires students to pursue a study abroad experience within their International Business co-major. International Business coursework is generally quite available, and co-majors will be able to study abroad with programs that offer a nice complement of major and co-major coursework. Along with taking courses toward the International Business co-major, students should consider personal and professional opportunities that come with studying in a foreign country, such as internships and research.
International Business co-majors/minors who wish to study overseas should begin the advising process as early as possible in order to determine the proper sequencing of courses to ensure they can include a summer or semester abroad in their plans. It should be noted that first-year VSB students cannot study abroad (with the exception of the Global Citizens Program), and students must meet prerequisite requirements for their overseas institution.
Tell your academic advisor that you are interested in studying abroad at each registration appointment. Together, identify the best terms to go abroad, based on the courses in your four-year plan.
Some things to consider for International Business co-majors:
International Business must be paired with another major.
This program pulls from other VSB disciplines, so finding IB courses abroad is usually relatively straightforward.
- Students must take an international course in their major if it is offered.
- There is also an international HIS or SOCNATSCI requirement that students may complete abroad.
- Students may work towards, or often times, complete the IB foreign language requirement while overseas.
- IB Co-Majors: a minimum of 6 credits of programming abroad must be completed (semester, summer or combination of two May-term programs) to fulfill requirements for the IB Co-major.
Search the OEA Course Approval History database to select from more than 3,000 study abroad courses that have already been pre-approved for liberal education requirements and a growing list of technical courses.
The Course Approval History database is not exhaustive and students can work with an OEA advisor to submit additional courses for review.
Don't forget - VSB has a list of policies and limitations specifically focused on study abroad. Make sure you're aware of these as you plan your overseas experience.

Study abroad opportunities are not limited to formal instruction. Consider taking advantage of the unique research, internship and fieldwork opportunities available in different regions of the world. This not only expands your personal and professional network, but gives you critical intercultural skills as well as direct hands-on experience.

Incorporates an internship into the semester and has IB courses available to take.
With sites in Copenhagen and Stockholm, DIS offers programs in Business, Economics, Finance, and more. The included study tours are a great draw for many students.

It is important to plan ahead as it is not uncommon for scholarship deadlines to occur much earlier than a ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ or program application deadlines.
There are many scholarships available for students through ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ University, our partner programs and other external sources, like the US Government. The OEA can help students with the scholarship search and application process. If a scholarship is found outside of the OEA scholarship page, students should have it reviewed by the OEA to determine if it is a viable option.
