STEM education was identified as a national crisis in a report from the National AcadÂemies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in 2005. In 2007, Congress passed a law intended, in part, to improve STEM teaching. Â Later, President Barack Obama tried to make STEM educaÂtion a priority.
