Dr. Mojtaba Vaezi Co-Authors Award-Winning IEEE Communication Society Paper
Dr. Mojtaba Vaezi
Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and co-authors Wonjae Shin, Byungju Lee, David J. Love, Jungwoo Lee and H. Vincent Poor have been selected as the 2020 recipients of the IEEE Communication Society's . The award is given to an influential paper in any Communications Society magazine in the previous three calendar years. Dr. Vaezi and his co-authors were recognized for 鈥淣on-orthogonal multiple access in multi-cell networks: Theory, performance, and practical challenges,鈥 which appeared in IEEE Communications Magazine, Volume 55, Issue 10, pp. 76鈥183, October 2017. Dr. Vaezi will receive the award at the IEEE ICC 2020 conference in Dublin to be held virtually in early June 2020.
Published when Dr. Vaezi was an associate research scholar/postdoctoral research fellow at Princeton University, this paper has created excitement in the field by explaining in plain words the fundamental limits of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in multi-cell networks, evaluating its performance, and discussing practical challenges of multi-cell NOMA. The piece鈥攚hich was also listed in IEEE ComSoc Best Readings in April 2020鈥攈as generated a new research thrust to make non-orthogonal multiple access viable in multi-cell networks.
