College Hosts Annual Dean’s Awards Dinner

2017 Award Winners
On April 20, 2017, ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ University College of Engineering returned to Overbrook Country Club for the Dean’s Awards Dinner. Honoring this year’s senior engineering students, the 42nd annual awards were once again blessed by warm and sunny weather as the year comes to a close.
Drosdick Endowed Dean of Engineering Gary A. Gabriele, PhD, began the reception with a welcome for the students, parents, faculty and staff in attendance. He then introduced recently appointed Vice Provost for Academics Craig M. Wheeland, PhD, who shared words of praise and appreciation. Dinner followed an invocation by Jack E. McCabe ’17 ME and the evening culminated in the presentation of awards by Dean Gabriele and new Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Andrea L. Welker, PhD, PE. This year, the Academic Excellence Award was given to 30 students, the top ten percent by cumulative grade point average in each engineering major:

Finally, graduating seniors who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.50 as of the previous fall term were granted the status of Dean’s Recognition invitees. Additional awards, including each department’s outstanding undergraduate medallion, will be presented at the College of Engineering Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, May 20.
