Dr. Zhang Elected Member of IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Technical Committee
Qisong Wu, PhD, post-doctoral research fellow; and PhD student Saurav Subedi, with advisor Yimin Zhang, PhD.
Dr. Yimin Zhang, research professor at the Center for Advanced Communications (CAC) and director of the Wireless Communications and Positioning Lab, was elected a member of the Sensor Array and Multichannel (SAM) Technical Committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. He will serve a three-year term starting in January 2015. A longtime associate member of the committee, Dr. Zhang’s election is attributed to an impressive record of publications within SAM technical areas. He has published more than 240 journal articles, book chapters and conference papers, which have received 2100 citations with an H-index of 22.
IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, is the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology. As the IEEE's first society, the Signal Processing Society is the world’s premier professional society for signal processing scientist and professionals since 1948. Technical committees in the Signal Processing Society are actively involved in awards, conferences, publications and educational activities, and provide technical advice to the Society's leadership. The SAM Technical Committee consists of approximately 40 members and 70 associate members who promote activities within the technical fields of sensor array processing and multi-channel statistical signal processing.
Dr. Zhang is recognized internationally for his expertise in signal processing with broad applications to wireless communications, radar, RFID and navigation. He is a senior member of both the IEEE and the International Society of Optics and Photonics (SPIE), and is actively involved in numerous professional societies. Dr. Zhang has served as an associate editor for two of the IEEE Signal Processing Society’s prestigious periodicals: IEEE Signal Processing Letters (2006-2010) and IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing (2010-2014). He also is a member of the editorial board of the Signal Processing journal, published by the European Association for Signal Processing. Dr. Zhang’s recent professional activities include serving as the technical committee co-chair of the IEEE Benjamin Franklin Symposium on Microwave and Antenna Sub-systems in 2014 and 2015, and as the organizer of the Compressive Sensing for Radar special session for the International Conference on Digital Signal Processing.
