Dr. Moeness Amin Contributes Two Chapters to Online Encyclopedia

Elsevier, a leading publisher within the electrical engineering industry, has invited Dr. Moeness Amin, Director of the Center for Advanced Communications and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, to author two chapters for its upcoming Elsevier E-Reference Signal Processing publication, which will be available in print and housed online through the publisher’s Science Direct platform.

A world-renowned expert in the area of digital signal and array processing and its applications to communications, radar, sonar, satellite navigations, seismology, and ultrasound, Dr. Amin will contribute chapters on through-wall imaging and direction finding of jammers and interferers.

Dr. Amin has asked two CAC Research Professors to co-author the chapters. The chapter entitled “Through-the-Wall Radar Imaging: Theory and Applications” is co-authored by Dr. Fauzia Ahmad, Director of the CAC’s Radar Imaging Laboratory, and will appear in the Radar Signal Processing section of the E-Reference. Dr. Yimin Zhang, Director of the Center’s Wireless and Communications Positioning Lab, co-authored the chapter entitled “Direction of Arrival Estimation of Nonstationary Signals,” which will appear in the E-Reference section on Array Signal Processing. Each chapter will be updated to reflect recent developments in research every two to four years.

The E-Reference will be highly structured and searchable, using newly commissioned content that presents cutting edge technologies, latest research, key equations, applications, standards, code, and core principles. With online access, researchers can quickly and easily link within the work, all from the convenience of their desktop. The online version of the chapters will have color digital images and multimedia components such as video clips, samples of working code or spreadsheet models, sound clips, and links to other online resources and reference materials.
