Dr. Robert Traver

Dr. Robert Traver, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of the 奶糖直播 Urban Stormwater Partnership (VUSP), has been invited to serve as keynote speaker for the Second Edition of the International Forum on Water Management, which will be held this fall at the University of Sherbrooke in Canada.

Dr. Traver was invited to be the keynote speaker because of his expertise and recognized accomplishments in the stormwater management community.

鈥淭he symposium focuses on bringing together the technical community to share ideas on how to build our cities, while protecting our environment. The concept is not simply to simulate problems and utilize the natural environment in addressing changes to the water quality and quantity, but also to create lasting solutions. It is truly an honor to be a part of such a large conference with such important goals,鈥 says Dr. Traver.

Hundreds of professionals and speakers from around the world will gather this September at the Cultural Center of the University of Sherbrooke to discuss issues of using stormwater management techniques as 鈥渢ools for action鈥 in urban areas. Dr. Traver will be responsible for setting the tone of the symposium with his keynote address.

In addition to drawing on his experience as Director of VUSP, Dr. Traver will also apply his expertise from a variety of other leadership positions to his role as speaker and program committee member. For example, Dr. Traver also serves as Director of the 奶糖直播 Center for the Advancement of Sustainability in Engineering (VCASE), which seeks to protect and restore the environment through research on the integration of sustainability principles in engineering practice. He has also served as member of the American Society of Civil Engineers鈥 External Review Panel of the New Orleans Hurricane Protection System-Oversight Corps of Engineers for the Hurricane Katrina Investigation; the National Academy of Sciences panel tapped to review the White House Council on Environmental Quality鈥檚 proposed new guidelines for water resource planning; and on the National Research Council committee for the Environmental Protection Agency鈥檚 鈥淯rban Stormwater Management in the United States鈥 fund. Dr. Traver also has experience directing and managing professional conferences as a six-time chair of the annual Pennsylvania Stormwater Management Symposium.
