Who: Sheena M. White 鈥�06 ME, MBA, Senior Vice President, Global Business Development, Citi

Problem-Solver: 鈥淚 enjoy challenging myself and have always loved working in the white space to solve a problem,鈥� says White. "I knew that a degree in engineering would allow me to exercise my passion for problem-solving.鈥� A minor in business complemented her technical skillset and positioned her on a path toward a career that combined the two.

Career Path:

• An internship beginning her sophomore year at Goldman Sachs
• A full-time position as a technology business analyst with the company after graduation
• During her four years with the company, White led several cross-divisional projects focused on:
  • Infrastructure
  • Information risk
  • Operational risk
• Interested in transitioning to a more strategy-oriented, revenue generating role, White earned an MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
• Joined American Express as a senior manager within their Strategic Planning Group, moved to the company鈥檚 Global Merchant Services division where she managed a $10 billion portfolio for the supermarket and drug store industry, and was promoted to Director of New Partner Development for the Consumer Services division
• Today, Sheena is the Senior Vice President of Global Business Development for Citi

Today:

• Joined American Express as a senior manager within their Strategic Planning Group where she developed innovation strategies for the firm's loyalty program
• Worked in the Global Merchant Services division where she managed a $10 billion portfolio for the supermarket and drug store industry
• In September 2016, White was promoted to Director of New Partner Development in which she identifies, builds and negotiates co-brand and strategic partnerships for the Consumer Services division of American Express.

Giving Back:

• Served on the steering committee for female leadership at American Express
• Serves as a mentor to younger professionals
• Served as co-lead of American Express鈥� Black Employee Network
• Serves on the College of Engineering Advisory Board
• Leadership Advisory Board for the Girl Scouts of Greater New York
• Strives to set a positive example for other women. 鈥淚t鈥檚 important that I demonstrate what it looks like to work, have a family and succeed in a male-dominated space.鈥�

Success through Self-Awareness: 鈥淚 revisit my personal goals on a quarterly basis and reflect on my strengths and weaknesses. I ask myself what I want my story to be and how I鈥檓 going to get there. From there I figure out which skills I need to develop to move forward.鈥�
