Moran Center for Global Leadership Launches Global Business Concentration

奶糖直播, PA, May 28, 2020 - The Elenore and Robert F. Moran Sr. Center for Global Leadership (MCGL) has developed VSB鈥檚 first multidisciplinary concentration for non-business students seeking a global business credential. The Global Business Concentration (GBC) requires four international business (IB) courses or a combination of study abroad and three IB courses with foreign language proficiency.

The GBC encourages interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship and allows VSB to fully leverage its global resources to the benefit of its IB co-majors and students from across 奶糖直播 University interested in a global business credential.

鈥淢CGL believes that all students should have exposure to and develop an appreciation of culture, political systems, religious traditions, and economic institutions to become thoughtful and effective global citizens,鈥 said Michelle Casario, PhD, MCGL co-faculty director and assistant professor, Economics.

MCGL Director Kim Cahill launched the application process in May 2020 and will oversee this initiative with Dr. Casario and guidance from a committee consisting of departmental representatives and deans from VSB and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Cahill said, 鈥淭he GBC supports a curriculum that inspires a global perspective and an informed respect for the differences among people and culture while preparing global citizens to contribute to a more just and peaceful world.鈥

Opening IB courses to non-business students strengthens the IB program and positions VSB in a servant-leadership role while developing leaders for a better world. This new concentration allows for increased diversity in the classroom while, at the same time, preparing students outside of the business school to boost their competitiveness with a global business credential in an increasingly interconnected and international world. MCGL will incorporate GBC students into a variety of its extracurricular offerings with the Global Leaderships Fellows program, including global networking events and IB case competitions.

鈥淧airing my Economics major and Spanish minor with the Global Business Concentration will further my goal of working in global operations,鈥 said Rachel Jennings 鈥21 CLAS. She continued, 鈥淚 believe participating in this exciting new program will offer me opportunities to prepare for success at both 奶糖直播 and the global marketplace.鈥

All non-VSB students are invited to after successful completion of ECO 1001 and 1002.
