How Do I Join the FSL Community at ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥?
Participating in Fraternity and Sorority Life can be an incredibly rewarding and transformative experience. Students involved in fraternities and sororities have the opportunity to build lifelong friendships, develop valuable leadership skills and give back to the University community and local causes.
Important Information
The decision to join a fraternity or sorority is personal and can sometimes be difficult. We highly encourage interested students to learn as much as possible and ask questions about the various groups, recruitment and/or intake processes and expectations of membership before joining so they can make informed decisions.
Minimum Requirements:
- All students must have completed at least one full semester at ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ or have transferred to ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ with at least one semester of credits to be eligible for recruitment or intake.
- Students hoping to participate in the recruitment process must have at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA. Although this is the minimum GPA required to participate in recruitment, it does not guarantee membership—many chapters maintain their own GPA requirements.
- All students must also be in good disciplinary standing with the University to participate in recruitment or intake processes.
JOINING AND BID ACCEPTANCE PROCESSES
The IFC recruitment process is a semi-structured process.
Fall Recruitment: Plays a dual role (1) is centered around the Free Agency or Continuous Open Bidding Process (informal recruitment) for sophomores, juniors, seniors, transfers, etc. (2) is for any interested students to gather information, gauge interest and build relationships.

Spring Recruitment: The spring recruitment (primary recruitment) is a structured 1.5-to-2-week process consisting of council- and chapter- sponsored events concluding with Bid Day. After the conclusion of Bid Day, the Free Agency period will open, and chapters have the autonomy to continue extending invitations of membership (bids).

The individual fraternities and sororities within CBFO host their own recruitment and/or intake processes at different times throughout the year.

The ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Panhellenic Spring 2025 Recruitment process will take place January 7-12, 2025.
Due to the nature and planning of the formal recruitment process, the Panhellenic recruitment process takes place once a year in the Spring semester. There is a $150 fee to participate in the recruitment process that can be paid at the time of registration.

Eligible chapters may also participate in an informal recruitment process in the fall semester. Please check our website in August/September when we update the list of chapters eligible to participate in fall recruitment and their chapter contact information.

Bids are formal invitations to membership from either an IFC Fraternity or Panhellenic Sorority.
Once you receive a bid or an invitation for membership from a chapter at ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥, it is important to understand the time commitment, membership requirements and cost of your affiliation.
Joining a fraternity or sorority is a commitment in many ways and it is important to consider the potential impacts and personal adjustments that will need to be made to continue with membership.
Chapter leadership will alert the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life of your new member status, so individuals are not required to share their membership acceptance with OFSL. OFSL will ask you to come to our office at 108 Dougherty Hall to sign a membership and GPA disclosure form so office staff can check individual academic standing and ensure eligibility.
