ASSOCIATION FOR CHANGE AND TRANSFORMATION (ACT)
Email: act@villanova.edu
The Association for Change and Transformation (ACT) educates the ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ community on dynamics surrounding social identity, power, privilege and oppression through interactive workshops and dialogue.
ACT enhances ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ students' lives by bringing awareness to the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion to promote a society of acceptance. Read below to learn about ACT's annual programming:
During Orientation, ACT members participate in an intensive week-long training on identity development and facilitation of performance skills. They then perform a skit for all new incoming students followed by a guided conversation to discuss perceptions of what happens at ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ and provide tools to act as an ally.
Diversity Skit 2.0: During the spring semester, ACT members perform new skits and activities for the campus community to continue conversations regarding the experiences of marginalized identities.
ACT leads facilitated dialogues among students on current topics in society.
ACT hosts annual trainings led by esteemed faculty and staff for students to learn facilitation skills and practice guided conversation among peers.
ACT members are available to lead facilitated dialogue and workshops for the campus community.
MENTORSHIP FOR UNDERREPRESENTED STUDENT EMPOWERMENT (MUSE)
The MUSE Initiative is a new mentorship program that operates out of the Office of Belonging and Inclusion, seeking to enhance the sense of belonging for VU’s culturally underrepresented students through social engagement, community building, education and empowerment. This program connects newly-admitted first year students with an upper-class mentor to help guide and support them throughout their first year at ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥.
