William Conway

M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing Receives Fourth Gift from William and Joanne Conway, Bringing their Total Support to More Than $10 Million

ֱ University’s M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing has received a fourth gift from philanthropists William E. Conway, Jr., co-founder and co-chairman of The Carlyle Group, and his wife, Joanne, bringing their total investment of the College of Nursing to over $10 million. This funding from the Conways—which will support more than 500 ֱ nursing students over the next five years—makes them the largest donors in the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing’s history.

Simulation Center Among First in the World to Earn Inaugural INACSL Endorsement for Healthcare Simulation Standards

The Simulation and Learning Resource Center (SLRC) is among the first simulation centers worldwide to be endorsed by the International Nursing Association of Clinical and Simulation Learning (INACSL) in their new Healthcare Simulation Standards Endorsement program. The award was presented on June 17 to SLRC Assistant Director Patricia Prieto, MBA, BSN, RN, CHSE who represented the FCN team at the INACSL22 meeting in Milwaukee. This recognition reflects the deep dedication the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing has to nursing education and the science that supports it.

A critical new report sponsored by the Department of Defense,, wasreleased February 1 by an ad hoc National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) CommitteeonAccelerating Progress in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Research and Care. Helene Moriarty, PhD, RN, FAAN, the Diane & Robert Moritz Jr. Endowed Chair in Nursing Research at the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing, worked for over a year with the committee on its recommendations - one of two nurses in the group of 18 experts representing many disciplines.

Dr. Sunny Hallowell

Dr. Sunny Hallowell Releases Neonatal Intensive Care Virtual Gaming Simulation

Associate Professor Sunny Hallowell, PhD, APRN, PPCNP-BC, a pediatric nurse practitioner and an expert in breastfeeding and neonatal ICU (NICU) nursing, has developed the , the first of several such games she hopes to develop as a 2021 Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation Scholar. Dr. Hallowell, whose work was funded by both the ֱ University M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing Research Development Grant and The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, focuses on simulating a clinical experience using a health equity framework that promotes undergraduate students’ application of knowledge, clinical reasoning and communication skills.
