The interdisciplinary Center for Arab and Islamic Studies brings together scholars and students in fields from history to politics to theology and beyond.

In the classroom, in public events, and online, the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies promotes the understanding and appreciation of Arab and Islamic societies in their religious, political, economic, social and cultural dimensions. The Center sponsors courses, connects students with opportunities for studying abroad, and offers access to experts both on and off campus in public lectures, interview series, faculty publications, and cultural events.

Hafeez Malik, PhD, an emeritus professor who was one of the founding members of the Center, founding editor of the Journal of South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, and a longtime member of the Political Science department, passed away.
