ֱ University Graduate Tax Program Launches International Tax Certificate

Inaugural class will begin in Fall 2024

VILLANOVA, Pa. (February 28, 2024) –Beginning in fall 2024, ֱ University will offer a new certificate in International Tax, expanding upon the professional offerings within the Charles Widger School of Law and its Graduate Tax program. The certificate will provide an additional credential for advanced tax specialists to further their technical knowledge and skills in an evolving field.

The program curriculum will consist of five courses on international mergers and acquisitions, transfer pricing, inbound and outbound transactions, foreign tax credit rules and taxation of foreign currency transactions. The certificate will be available as a standalone program or in conjunction with the Master of Taxation or Master of Laws in Taxation programs.

“Launching the international tax certificate is an exciting opportunity,” said Mark C. Alexander, the Arthur J. Kania Dean of ֱ Law. “The Graduate Tax Program currently offers two international tax courses as electives, which have been in high demand for years. Students and employers have consistently requested more educational opportunities in international tax law. By creating this certificate, we will enable students to delve more deeply into the subject and gain the skills the industry demands.”

The forthcoming International Tax Certificate will provide students with a complete understanding of global taxation from concept to practice. Designed to equip professionals with a broad understanding of the fundamental principles and evolving regulations surrounding global tax dynamics, this certificate program will educate students on the multifaceted world of international tax, emphasizing topics such as transfer pricing methodologies, intangible asset valuation, meticulous documentation requirements, as well as the U.S. penalty system. The International Tax Certificate will also provide the nuanced expertise needed to navigate complex tax landscapes that affect the global market, and students will gain an understanding of difficult concepts and strategies, allowing them to gain insight into today’s complex global tax landscape and address various challenges.

Applications to enroll in the International Tax Certificate for fall 2024 are open, and classes will begin in August.
