The Pennsylvania Bar Foundation recently named ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law student Haley Norwillo '23 as a 2021 James W. Stoudt Memorial Scholarship Fund award winner. The scholarship was named to memorialize Pennsylvania Bar Foundation supporter, James "Jim" W. Stoudt, who was instrumental in the creation of the Pennsylvania Bar Trust. Awarded annually, it offers up to three $3,000 scholarships, two of which are specifically designated to support minority law students, to candidates attending any of the nine accredited law schools in Pennsylvania.

"I am beyond grateful to the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation for the selection," said Norwillo. "This scholarship will help to support me financially, and it validates every late night, every early morning, and ultimately my decision to pursue a career in law. This award is a sign that I am absolutely on the right path, and the confidence that gives me is immeasurable."

Norwillo, a native of Scranton, PA, earned both her BA in Psychology and her BS in Criminal Justice from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. At ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law she is a peer mentor for the Student Bar Association, a member of the Women's Law Caucus and a member of the Pro Bono Society. In addition, she has gained extensive and varied legal experiences while a student at ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥, including serving as a judicial law clerk to The Honorable Iris Aida Santiago-Flores at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as an internship for the Juvenile Court Division at the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office. During the fall semester of her 2L year she was also a student attorney for ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law's Clinic for Asylum, Refugee and Emigrant Services where she represented an asylum seeker in a removal proceeding before the U.S. Immigration Court.

Upon graduation, Norwillo plans to use her law degree to support social justice initiatives that provide positive changes. "I am looking forward to transferring the skills ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law taught me to inspire protection for vulnerable populations."
