MOOT COURT JUDGES & COACHES

The Moot Court Board is excited to work with ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law alumni to enhance ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s appellate advocacy program, which enriches the curriculum, makes the Moot Court Board more competitive with area law schools, and launches the already successful board into the very top tier of moot court programs nationwide.

JUDGES

The Honorable Theodore L. Reimel '24 CLAS Moot Court Competition is a great opportunity for alumni to return to ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law and help students by serving as judges. The Reimel Competition has become a hallmark of the ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ Law experience, and this is due in large part to our alumni volunteers.

Every fall, the Moot Court Board seeks alumni to judge the first and second rounds of the Reimel Competition and decide which students get to advance to the later rounds.ÌýIn addition to judges who can commit to a specific time on a specific day, the Moot Court Board is also seeking alumni who can volunteer as emergency judges to fill in on short notice in case of a last-minute cancellation of other alumni.ÌýÌý Ìý

COACHES

ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ currently has twelve competition teams that participate in moot court competitions nationwide. Each competition centers on a different area of law, e.g., criminal, family, sports, constitutional, etc. Every team is assigned a 3L student coach and, ideally, one to two alumni coaches per team.

The Moot Court Board is looking for alumni coaches to help prepare teams for competition by judging two to four of the teams' oral argument practice rounds and providing students with feedback on the substance and style of their arguments. The 3L student coach will prepare a bench brief for alumni coaches, summarizing the competition record and relevant case law.
