BIOCHEMICAL ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ MINOR

A branch of chemical engineering, Biochemical Engineering serves primarily the biopharmaceutical industry, which is responsible for the manufacture of antibiotics, vaccines, antibodies and most recently, cell therapy products. ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s minor in Biochemical Engineering will prepare graduates to make an immediate impact designing and optimizing biopharmaceutical processes and products.

NovaCell Grant Supports Improved CAR-T Therapy Manufacturing

ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s Center for Cellular Engineering is dedicated to advancing adoptive immunotherapies like CAR-T-cells, which provide patient- specific treatment. With a grant from National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals, NovaCell is collaborating with Redbud Labs on the development of a micro-scale bioreactor and a transcriptome-driven mathematical model would allow for screening of CAR-T patients’ cells for enhanced growth prior to start of the clinical batch. This innovation could become a new standard that provides more efficient (cell therapy) manufacturing.
