ABET ACCREDITATION
Accreditation
The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.
Department Mission Statement
In order to graduate computer engineering students and electrical engineering students who can succeed in their chosen careers, our core educational philosophy is built on:
- Strong Fundamentals: A solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles and problem solving, along with strong technical knowledge and skills within the chosen discipline.
- Multidisciplinary Perspective: Engagement of technical knowledge with the wider community.
- Leadership Ability: Leadership and effective team skills lead to success within diverse, multidisciplinary settings.
Program Educational Objectives: Electrical Engineering
The Program Educational Objectives of the Electrical Engineering program are to produce graduates who:
- Generate and validate sustainable and technically appropriate solutions to real world problems in their chosen professions.
- Communicate and work effectively with others having different roles or responsibilities in their professional work environments.
- Continue to develop their professional knowledge and skills throughout their career.
- Succeed in their careers by practicing their chosen discipline with professionalism, care and integrity.

Student Outcomes: Electrical Engineering
The curriculum is structured to provide a thorough foundation in the fundamentals of electrical engineering. Design and analysis are emphasized throughout the curriculum, using a project-based structure to teach students how to learn on their own and in teams, and synthesize new engineering solutions by using their knowledge and analytical skills. Great importance is placed on developing oral and written communications skills. The curriculum also provides opportunities for an increased awareness of the broader implications of technology and of the social responsibilities of the profession.
These Program Educational Objectives are met by satisfying the following outcomes:
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must
- consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
- an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
- an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
