Amy Fleischer, PhD, professor and chair of 奶糖直播 University鈥檚 Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been elected to a five-year term on the executive committee of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers鈥 Electronics and Photonics Packaging Division. The EPPD coordinates and promotes AMSE technical activities in the fields of Microelectronics, Photonics, Microwave and Microelectromechanical Systems Packaging Engineering. The Division is concerned with design and engineering aspects related to theoretical and experimental problems associated with the application of methods and approaches of engineering and applied mechanics to the analysis, design, manufacturing, testing and operation in these disciplines.

The EPPD executive committee oversees the entire administration of this technical area, including oversight of all the technical committees and sponsored conferences.  Dr. Fleischer will rotate yearly through five different positions on the committee, culminating as chair of the executive committee in 2020鈥2021.

Outgoing EPPD chair Abhijit Dasgupta, professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, congratulated Dr. Fleischer on her achievement: 鈥淭here was a strong pool of candidates and this decision is testament to the excellence of your candidacy.鈥 Dr. Fleischer was pleased with the appointment, noting, 鈥淪erving at the national industry level brings opportunity and exposure to 奶糖直播 Engineering鈥檚 research and graduate programs.鈥

Internationally recognized for her expertise in thermal fluid systems design, Dr. Fleischer鈥檚 research interests include sustainable energy systems design and thermal management of electronic systems. Other recent investigations include energy storage in phase change materials, development of nano-enhanced materials, jet impingement, porous heat sinks and boiling heat transfer. In 奶糖直播鈥檚 College of Engineering, Dr. Fleischer teaches thermal fluid systems design, thermal management of electronics and conduction heat transfer.

In 2010, the EPPD named Dr. Fleischer Woman Engineer of the Year. She also received the 2011 ASME K-16/EPPD Clock Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of heat transfer in electronics.
