GRADUATE PROGRAM IN CLASSICAL STUDIES

Classical Studies at ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ offers graduate students the opportunity to explore ancient Greek and Latin languages and literature, as well as a variety of aspects of classical civilization and culture.

For more than half a century, ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s Classical Studies MA program has helped students deepen their knowledge and appreciation of the Greco-Roman world in all of its richness, diversity and enduring relevance. The program has long been known for providing thorough training in both pedagogical and research methods. Passionate teacher-scholars conduct small seminars in a broad array of subjects - including not only classical languages and literatures but also ancient history, philosophy, political thought, and art and archaeology.

Students may pursue the degree with a focus on Latin, Greek & Latin or Classical Culture. Prospective students may apply for the full MA program or choose to take individual courses as a non-matriculated student.

The graduate Classical Studies program is 100% online, with live, synchronous classes.

"As a teacher taking graduate classes in the evening, ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥ has been very accommodating to my needs. If I am ever required to attend events such as parent-teacher conferences, back-to-school night or a district board meeting, my professors have been very understanding and allow me to conveniently view whatever I missed online. Program director Dr. Valentina DeNardis has made the master’s program a pioneer in in the online/hybrid format, and she has done a superb job in incorporating the most modern technology in such an ancient field of study. I have translated ancient texts with students tuning in from states as far away as Massachusetts, Minnesota and Texas. At ÄÌÌÇÖ±²¥, I study with the most outstanding professors and students with a passion for the Classics. I highly recommend this program without any reservation."
